I meant to post an afterthought about the Isner and Mahut match. I was really pleased that Wimbledon honored them, even though I'm sure Mahut wanted to get off that court as soon as possible. The records broken were ridiculous and just seeing 70-68 at the end of the scoreboard is hilarious.
Wimbledon is just nuts right now though, with Federer/Clijsters/Venus getting knocked out, as well as the Williams doubles team. It's keeping me entertained (or unproductive) as it is probably my favorite slam.
I was in the Knoxville News Sentinel today! I wrote this for my Journalism writing/reporting class and tried to get it published and it was! Here's the link: 91-year-old pastor still light on his feet

Longest Match in Tennis History
I'm watching the longest match ever in tennis history. I watched this for about five or six hours yesterday. Obsessive? Probably. But how could I not watch? Every moment counts and both John Isner and Nicolas Mahut kept their composure and physically stayed together to fight back over and over again.
Tennis is my sport, though I may not be great at it, I love it and have devoted a lot of time to playing and keeping up with it. How could I not watch one of the most historic moments take place live? I sat around all day staring at my screen, watching these two players hold serve in their first round match...yes, they are playing to get past the first round of Wimbledon. This could be an epic final, but these two are battling to move ahead one more round, where the winner will be exhausted -- but they keep fighting.
This match epitomizes everything I love about tennis. Two people facing off with no one else out there and no help...just a one versus one battle until there is a winner. The concept is simple but I love watching it play out. Right now it is 69-68 in the final set. How is that even possible? After they seven hours they played in one day...how are they out there playing again? It's incredible and just seeing the drive of these two players is inspiring. Tennis is having its day today, I think it's about time.

New Design
One reason I decided to take the journalism path in my college career was because I wanted to be a travel journalist. I love to travel and even though I've not been that many places, I would love the opportunity to be able to go and then write about my experiences. I would still love to do this, and even though my career path may not take me to travel immediately, it'd be amazing if it did.
My new background is a throwback to my original reason for being a journalism student, and I'm so glad I took the first step. I really can't see myself doing anything else now and I'm really enjoying the later stages of my college career. The only thing I hate about the design is how weird embedded Youtube videos look, but oh well...I'm still going to embed, so it's just going to look odd.
I'm discovering how much I love writing right now. The art of making a news story flow and giving it just the right wording is fun to me. Placing all the little pieces in their correct spot is like a puzzle to me, and you know when you have it just right.

Sharing Music
It is quite enjoyable when a friend enjoys the music you happen to be listening to and force them to join you. I'm really into the old music at the moment, which I'm sure I've made clear since I've already posted a lot of it. Here's my favorite song at the moment. Django Reinhardt is soothing and I love it. It's perfect.

Make Your Own Kind of Music
I finished season one of Lost a few days ago and started season two. This song plays a prevalent part in the first few episodes and it kind of defines how I feel right now...at least a little bit. Enjoy!

Missed the first day....
Yeah yeah, I missed my first day posting yesterday but really...I didn't have too much to say. I could've posted a link to a song I liked or something else but I wanted to make it of substance and I got lazy when I got home.
The week is getting started again, it seems like all my weeks in at least June will get started on Tuesday, the Daily Beacon staff meetings are Tuesdays and my internship editor emailed me today with a new assignment. Busy busy...I've also decided that for my blog I'm just going to add all my clips from websites and the Beacon so I can keep track of them easily and share them with everyone who reads (the four of you are the best!)

Lazy
Today was a lazy day, except I wrote my first article for my internship! And then I indulged in a lot and a lot of Lost. I am past the first season now...here's some of my favorite music from it.

Not much today
I went to Dollywood today for the first time in like four years (besides my small stint as a Travel Channel intern this spring) and wow...on a Saturday...bad choice by me. People...EVERYWHERE. Though, if your sport is people watching, you would've had a field day.
I did get to ride two roller coasters which was fun, though one of the lines was ridiculous. I want to go back just for the Adventure Mountain thing that I didn't get to do. It looks like a lot of fun, except I really want to race people on it, like it was a Survivor challenge or something.
So I was exhausted, didn't do much else after I got home except for nap. I guess for "Stuff Jordan Likes," today's would be naps or roller coasters. I reserve the right to go back to either of those in lieu of a better use of them (probably...no, definitely will be for naps, I assure you.)

Nightmare
I've recently started Lost on Hulu...yeah about six years late I know, but better late than never, especially since I don't have to wait a week between episodes. That can actually be a dangerous thing instead of a benefit (about six episodes in one day earlier this week?)
One reason I like it so much is that reminds me of one my favorite...nerd drumroll...video games. I really don't play THAT many games anymore, but this one has such an amazing story and mythology behind it, so I don't really mind mentioning Bioshock. Parts of Lost (the radio transmissions, mysterious science, "Beyond the Sea/La Mer" being used) really remind me of one of my favorite games, so it makes me enjoy this show even more.
Here's a song from the Bioshock 2 OST. I won't explain why they have 30s, 40s and 50s music as their soundtrack...you should play and find out yourself.

I hope it pays off
"Winter" by Joshua Radin
I love this song. It's extremely calming to me, even if that's not really what it's about.
The past few days I've been really busy and stressed out. When I get this way, which surprisingly isn't that often, I just need a song like this to calm me down and remember that I don't need my heart racing to do okay. It has been the past few days though. I've recently put a lot on my plate where there used to be almost nothing except class. It's part of this whole motivation thing. I've sort of realized what I think I want to do for the rest of my life. To achieve this, I need to be incredibly motivated and working constantly...so I am.
I hope it pays off.

Internship what?!
Phone interviews make me nervous...granted I've only had one for a job and it was yesterday, but still it's much easier for me to talk in front of someone instead of on the phone. The body language isn't there and it makes me uncomfortable. It probably also didn't help that I called the interviewer instead of them calling me. Yeah, I got nervous and called them first...whoops.
Regardless of these mistakes, and much thanks to having an incredible reference, I got the internship! I will be writing for www.secrage.com! The internship lasts for six weeks or for however long I want to continue it if they are happy with my work. I'm excited about it and glad that I will be staying busy this summer. I still need that paying job though...hrm.
Also, I've decided to work for the Daily Beacon (http://dailybeacon.utk.edu/), the UT student newspaper, where I think I will also be doing sports. I planned on writing for the Beacon next semester anyways, so why not get it started a little early while they need people?
Here's the song I've been listening to the most the past couple of days. It's a great song for the beginning of summer...laid back.
Apparently it's on a Tide commercial? It's also on The Big C promo in my previous blog.

Promos
I don't know what it is, but HBO and Showtime have the best promotions for shows. It's just advertising, I know, but the shows' producers really get creative and I love it.
It's extremely fascinating to take the image of a character and what they are going through and show it in such a dramatic fashion through a promo. Most of what they do wouldn't make sense on the show itself but the promos tell a story in 30 seconds or less, and it intrigues me.
Plus, I'm a sucker for a good song with cool pictures...I guess that's what this really boils down to anyways. Enjoy some of my favorites.

Blogfail
I once created a blog just for fun...and because all of my journalism professors at the University of Tennessee told me that I should. My blog did not have an objective or a goal that I was seeking. It was general and for my own use.
This didn't work for me. I didn't write on it, so thus the title of this post. Now though, I have a purpose. I constantly share links and music that I enjoy, plus other random things dealing with pop culture to random news stories or facts.
My blog *start the fanfare* is going to be about stuff I like. The random, the interesting (to me at least) and whatever I share is going here. It's sort of a log for myself and if people share the same interests, sense of humor or just want to know what I'm looking at recently, then here it is.
My goal is to ultimately keep this going, with inserts about why I like what I like and maybe even stuff going on in my life...who knows, but my main goal is post (almost) every day in the summer. We shall see and it should be fun to see if I post tomorrow. I think if I post tomorrow, I can post for the rest of the summer.
Enjoy!
